poetry WAITING FOR NEWS by Stefanie Lyons I emptied trash watered the plants fed the cat.
I read a book filed my nails stretched.
I baked a cake repaired a heel folded shirts.
I mowed the lawn beat the throw rug dreamed.
I washed the cups polished the floor ironed pants.
I paired the socks tweezed my eyebrows napped.
I played the field took a hike killed time buried the hatchet cooked my goose cut the cheese ate crow licked my chops minced words and waxed poetic…
all to keep from checking and checking, rechecking my email.
