BOUZOUKI PLAYER
by
Helen Giano

His cheap watch

sits on a thick wrist

tangled in coarse Mediterranean hair

He rocks back and forth

in an unstable chair

the strings frayed and taunt

The fingers on his left hand are scanning

the neck of the bouzouki for the most important secrets

The roses are falling at his feet

as his right hand plucks the answers for us all

Helen Giano is the Director of a gallery in downtown New York. She graduated from NYU with a BS in Mass Media and a Minor in Creative Writing. Helen is also a music writer who currently resides in Queens. She is working on several poems and short stories.
